Kalapatthar Via Gokyo

Mount Everest National Park has been a popular spot since the very first expedition to the Nepalese side of Everest in 1950’s for trekkers and climbers alike. To see and experience to the extent of this stunning part of Nepal, we have set together a superb trekking holiday in high Khumbu district of Nepal which gives you opportunity to explore the two principal valleys and the ascents of two of the most breath-taking vintage points for Everest, namely Kala Patthar and Gokyo Ri.

This itinerary also offers the option to trek up to the Base camp area of Everest providing a taste of the Khumbu that is second to none and offering an daring challenge to the ambitious trekkers on his or her’s first Himalayan trip. This great itinerary begins with a trek from the airstrip at Lukla to Namche Bazaar and onwards to the holy lakes at Gokyo prior to crossing the challenging and spectacular Cho La entering the main Khumbu Valley which is the nearest point the base camp for the south side of Everest. The return journey to the Khumbu capital of Namche Bazaar is on the main Everest Trail, leading through many small Sherpa villages and providing opportunity to visit the famous monasteries at Pangboche and Thyangboche. Highlights of this exceptional trek are the accessible summits of Gokyo Ri and Kala Patar, each providing magnificent views of the Southwest Face of Everest. We also take the opportunity to visit Everest Base camp for a closer look at the spectacular “Khumbu Icefall” The climbing route to the South Col is the route taken on the very first ascent.
