Visa Information

All the visitors except Indians need a visa to enter Nepal. Visas are issued for 15, 30, and 90 days. A single entry visa costs US$ 25,$40,$100 for15,30 and 90 days respectively and a multiple entry visa valid for 60 days costs US$80. You should pay in US dollars and have with you one copy of your passport photo.

One month visa extensions are available form the department of immigration in Kathmandu. They cost $us30 per month. As a tourist you can only stay in Nepal for a maximum five month period in any one year. It is possible to get a visa for longer than five months by studying, teaching or undertaking research at the university or any institution recognized by the government.

A visa can be obtained at the airport on arrival or at any border point with India, or you can get before you depart form the Nepalese embassy in your country. You can ask for further information at Kathmandu Immigration office.

Tourist Visa Extension
Visa extension fee for 15 days or less is US $ 30 or equivalent convertible currency and visa extension fee for more       than 15 days is US$ 2 per day

Tourist visa can be extended for a maximum period of 150 days in a single visa year (January – December).

Gratis visa for 30 days available only for tourists of SAARC countries.

•Indian nationals do not require visa to enter into Nepal.

Transit visa for one day can be obtained from Nepal's immigration offices at the entry points upon the production of departure flight ticket via Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal, by paying US $ 5 or equivalent convertible currency.

A visa is required to enter Tibet, Autonomous Region of China. One can get a visa at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu and need two copies of passport sized photographs.

A visa for China does not entitle you to travel in Tibet.
Rush fee US$ 17 shall be charged if a person needs visa same day.

Visa application procedure is required to done in advance through tour operator and receive advance approval before you travel to Bhutan but actual visa are issued only when you arrive in the country. A three copies passport sized photograph is required on arrival.
